Research on climate adaptation, behavioural science, and policy, translated for people who want to act on it.

The Journey

I trained first as a chemist, then as a psychologist, then as an educator, before landing, most recently, in development practice at Trinity College Dublin. Each step added a different lens on the same underlying question: how do people actually make decisions when the stakes are real: a farmer facing a failing harvest, a family navigating a health system, a community responding to policy that wasn’t built with them in mind.

My MSc research examined how Ireland’s Well-being Framework could strengthen evaluation of the Nitrates Action Programme, and found that nitrate regulations carry measurable social and psychological costs for farmers that standard policy evaluation simply doesn’t see: stress, debt pressure, and exclusion from decision-making. That gap, between regulatory ambition and lived reality is the thread running through everything on this site.

What this site is for

Behavioural drivers of climate adaptation: what the research actually shows, and practical frameworks for thinking about change.

The environmental chemistry underneath policy: pollutants, water quality, and the science that regulation is supposed to be built on.
